Western Care Lodge

John Davis Launches Care West LodgeWestern Care Lodge (formerly CareWest Lodge), commissioned in September 2011, is the major project of Cancer Care Western NSW.

The lodge project was formally launched in February 2008 by Orange Mayor John Davis.

The Radiotheraphy Alliance was formed by Orange City Council and Mayor John Davis in late Novemeber 2006. From this, Cancer Care Western NSW was formed in January 2007, and obtained fundraising status in March 2007.

The aims of this charity organisation are to:

  • Lobby for radiotherapy services through government.
  • Raise funds for on site accomodation for patients.
  • Provide scholarships for local students to train in radiation therapy and oncology training.

In September 2011:

  • Radiotherapy Services have been achieved,
  • Stage 1 of the accomodation has been achieved,
  • Stage 2 fundraising has begun.

These three key people are supported by an enthusiastic local committee that meets monthly in Orange. They, in turn, are supported by equally enthusiastic fundraising groups in the towns surrounding Orange and Dubbo.
