This page lists the co-operative efforts by the Community, Local, State and Federal Governments in establishing radiotherapy services and accommodation facilities for future patients of the Central West, Mid West and Orana regions of NSW.

April 2000Planning commences for the new Orange Hospital to open in 2011.
Sept 2006Radiotherapy Alliance established by Orange City Council and independent research on radiotherapy need commissioned.
Nov 2006 Radiotherapy Report presented to NSW Health Meeting of Radiotherapy Alliance with Federal Health Minister Peter Abbott, Federal Member (the late) Peter Andren and NSW Member Russell Turner.
Dec 2006 Orange City Council moves that Cancer Care Western NSW ( CCW) be established and that CENTROC supports its activities.
March 2007 NSW Minister of Health announces that a public Radiotherapy Unit to be included in the new Orange Hospital.
April 2007 Cancer Care Western NSW officially registered as a charity to fundraise for accommodation building.
June 2007 First Fundraiser - Launch dinner and Auction - Orange.
Dec 2007 NSW Government announces successful PPP tenderer for the new Orange Hospital and Radiotherapy Unit Design.
CCW obtains project management estimates for construction of CareWest Lodge.
Jan 2008 CCW and Greater Western Area Health Service commence negotiations for land allocation (long term tenure) for rural cancer patients.
Feb 2008 Concept plans for CareWest Lodge drawn up  and  financial modeling complete.
April 2008CareWest Lodge name launched by Orange Mayor John Davis.
July 2008Greater Western AHS confirms (in principle) the allocation of land to CCW on the new hospital site.
Oct 2008 CCW Website constructed.
March 2009

Negotiations continue with Greater Western AHS re land allocation and lease on Bloomfield site.
Snowy River Horse ride occurs and raises $25k.
Cancer Council of NSW announces a $500k donation from 2009 & 2010 Relay for Life Events.

April 2009 Cadia Mines donates $50k for CareWest Lodge project.
Expressions of interest called for design of CareWest Lodge.
May 2009 Cruisin' Along Fundraising NSW drive occurs.
Application to Commonwealth Governent for $1.3 million.
July 2009 Keving Orrock & John Baker offer to donate services for design work of CareWest Lodge.
Sept 2009 Kevin Orrock commences design work and consultations with potential suppliers.
Snowy River Horse Ride organisers, Brian Tyson and Michael Pratten, visit Orange.
Oct 2009 Commonwealth announces Cancer Care West' successful bid for funds under the Jobs Incentive program.
Orange City Coucil offers $100k of "in kind" project management services.
Nov 2009

Second call for Expressions of Interest from Architects for Concept and Detail Design of project as requested by OCC project manager.
John Blackwood of Orange awarded the project.
Lease Agreement with Greater Western AHS for land donation near completion.

Dec 2009 Preliminary concept designs presented to Project team headed by Orange City Council.
Jan 2010 Funding Agreement with Commonwealth nears completition.
